The Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit, a division within the Georgia Attorney General’s office, indicted four Fulton County individuals on multiple trafficking and cruelty to children charges.
Two individuals, Raphel Olivia Sewer and Jody Netter, were charged with human trafficking and cruelty to children in the first degree. Netter also faces charges of rape and statutory rape.
Additionally, Courdale Thayer and Jahaundria Seabron were indicted on human trafficking, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and cruelty to children in the first degree.
“Our office is committed to protecting all Georgians, and we will continue to stand up for our state’s most vulnerable citizens by fighting back against human trafficking,” said Attorney General Carr. “From our investigators to our attorneys, our Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit works cases from beginning to end to ensure those in danger are recovered and those responsible are held accountable. Securing the indictments brings us one step closer to seeking justice for the victim, and we look forward to presenting these cases in court.”
All four individuals face a maximum of multiple life sentences, if convicted of the crimes.
The new charges stemmed from the rescue of a 14-year-old child and the arrest of the four residents, which occurred in December.
Previously, the division worked with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to indict eight individuals for 54 gang and human trafficking charges.
“Conducting human trafficking and criminal street gang investigations are top priorities for the GBI,” said GBI Director Vic Reynolds, at the time. “We are committed to investigating crimes that affect the safety of our communities. No human should be subjected to sexual servitude or labor trafficking.”
According to Carr’s office, the Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit “initiated 25 cases, arrested 9 individuals, investigated and prosecuted 51 defendants, and rescued and assisted 107 victims” in 2021 alone.
